After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to Cherrapunji, locally known as Sohra, which is famous for its dramatic cliffs and heavy rainfall. Along the way, we will visit the misty Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint and the roaring Wah Kaba Falls. Once in Cherrapunji, you will stand in awe of the Nohkalikai Falls, plunge into the fascinating limestone formations of Mawsmai Cave, and admire the multi-tiered Seven Sisters Falls. We will wrap up the day with a peaceful evening walk at the Eco Park before checking into your cozy Cherrapunji resort.
Today features a journey to the border lands, starting at Mawlynnong, celebrated as the cleanest village in Asia. Walk along its spotless, flower-lined paths and hike down to witness a marvelous Living Root Bridge handcrafted from the roots of ancient rubber trees. Next, we drive to Dawki to witness the surreal, transparent waters of the Umngot River, where you can take a peaceful boat ride that makes you feel as if you are floating on air. After catching a glimpse of the India-Bangladesh border checkpoint, we will make our way back up the hills to Shillong for your final overnight stay.
On your final day, take a morning excursion up to Laitlum Canyons to witness endless, deep-green gorges cutting through the morning fog. Next, we will stop by the sacred groves or visit the Don Bosco Museum to appreciate the rich tribal heritage of the Northeast's eight sister states.
