Your journey begins with your arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, where our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in and relaxing, you will head out in the afternoon to visit the revered Kamakhya Temple atop Nilachal Hill, one of the oldest and most sacred Shakti Peethas in India. In the evening, you will enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra River, offering stunning views of the river landscape and the city skyline. You will return to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay in Guwahati.
After breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and embark on a scenic 3-hour drive toward Shillong. En route, you will stop at the breathtaking Umiam Lake, a massive, picturesque reservoir surrounded by coniferous forests where you can enjoy optional water sports or a speed boat ride. Upon entering Shillong, you will visit the beautiful Ward's Lake for a pleasant lakeside stroll and the lush Lady Hydari Park. You will then check into your Shillong hotel, leaving your evening free to explore the vibrant street food and local markets of Police Bazar before your overnight stay.
Today is dedicated to exploring the rich heritage and natural beauty surrounding Meghalaya's capital. Your morning starts with a visit to the Don Bosco Museum, a world-class, multi-story cultural center showcasing the indigenous lifestyle of the Northeast states. Next, you will head to the magnificent Elephant Falls, a three-tiered mountain stream accessible via well-maintained walking steps. In the afternoon, you will drive to the dramatic Laitlum Canyons, which offer awe-inspiring, panoramic views of deep green gorges and misty valleys below, before returning to Shillong for the night.
Following an early breakfast, you will check out and head toward Cherrapunji (Sohra), a region globally famous for its dramatic cliffs and heavy rainfall. Your first stop is the ancient, mystical Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a protected grove steeped in local Khasi folklore where taking any plant or stone out of the forest is strictly forbidden. Continuing toward Cherrapunji, you will visit the spectacular Mawsmai Cave, a naturally lit limestone formation filled with stalactites, followed by the iconic Seven Sisters Falls viewpoint before checking into your Cherrapunji resort for the evening.
This day is dedicated entirely to the natural marvels of Cherrapunji. You will begin by visiting the awe-inspiring Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall, famous for its deep green pool at the base. Next, you will explore the eco-friendly Eco Park, which offers sweeping views of the plains of Bangladesh. Depending on your fitness level, the afternoon can be spent trekking down to see the fascinating Living Root Bridges in the nearby village of Riwai, showcasing nature engineered by human hands, before returning to your resort for a peaceful night under the misty skies.
You will check out early for an unforgettable excursion to Dawki, located right on the India-Bangladesh border. Here, you will witness the unbelievable transparency of the Umngot River, where your boat ride feels like gliding through thin air. From Dawki, you will proceed to Mawlynnong, widely celebrated as Asia’s Cleanest Village, to walk its pristine, flower-lined pathways. After a traditional local lunch, you will complete the scenic drive back north up the hills to check into your Shillong hotel for your final night.
On your final day, you will check out after breakfast and begin your return drive down the hills to Guwahati. If time and flight schedules permit, you can stop at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary for a brief morning safari or pick up some authentic Assam tea and local handicrafts from the city markets. Our driver will then drop you off smoothly at Guwahati Airport or the Railway Station for your onward departure, bringing an end to your magical week-long tour of Meghalaya.
